SO, we welcome you to bring your friends to a lovely weekend vacation in Santa Barbara, and attend not only the biggest orchid show in California, the Saturday Cymbidium Congress, but where many specialty orchid nurseries are open for JUST that weekend!!

Dinner with the Speaker: CANCELLED for March (normally on Friday, the day of the meeting, we meet for dinner at 5:45PM sharp, at the Silver House Chinese Restaurant, 2224 So. El Camino Real, San Mateo, CA, 94403. Dinner averages $12-15 per person. Members and guests are welcome. Call Marron Honigman at (408) 807-9124- at least 24 hours before the meeting, to be included in the dinner reservation group).
We normally start our meetings with a "Show & Tell" of Members' cymbidium plants brought in for display, followed by the Guest lecturer's slide show or panel discussion.
A Raffle table of the speakers' top quality plants are often provided after the meetings.
You'll also find orchid plant divisions for sale of many of the members' past show champions on the Member SalesTable at each meeting.
We meet the Third Friday of the month at 7:00 pm, from September to May.
Our meetings are held at the San Mateo Garden Center, 605 Parkside Way in San Mateo (for Map, click here). All are welcome!
And Throughout the Year we host sensational guest speakers with great raffle drawings.
In January, our club holds our Annual Collector's Cymbidium Orchid Auction of beautiful, award winning, rare and hard to find cymbidiums and other species, which draws bidders from far and wide.
In March, should the Santa Barbara International Orchid Show coincide during the same weekend as our normal March meeting, many of our members will pay to attend the (only held once a year) Cymbidium Society of America Congress, which features free acess to all 3 days of the SBIOS, an after the show party to mingle with vendors and noted orchid hybridizers, top international speakers, a reknown orchid auction with dinner, and gifts.
Then in April, our club holds our own Cymbidium Orchid Show & Sale.
In May, everyone contributes their best home made casseroles, salads and desserts for our "End of the Season" Potluck Dinner.
June to September is our Club Meeting Hiatus as we seriously repot, fertilize, de-bug and get involved in other cymbidium gardening activities.
At our September Meeting, we welcome the start of the Early Blooming Cymbidium Season, with whatever early blooming cymbidium plants on display, a great Lecturer with a great presentation, and finish off with an awesome raffle table.
In December, we share the San aAteo Garden Center with the Peninsula Orchid Society with a fun-filled Potluck Dinner, a night of Orchid Bingo, gift table and lots of comraderie!
